Otherworldly beings

Chapter 1
Beasts and Otherworldly beings

Yaksha

Yakshas(pl Yaksas) A race of otherworldy beings who according to most sources inhabit the upper Himalayan regions. They have been known to travel in other locations as well and I feel that they are connected to both Jin as in Islam and various fairy creatures mentioned in European mythology. They are cousins to Racksasas(see Bellow)and share some physical characteristics with them They are the main servants of Kubera the wealth God. They are extremely tall being on the average twice the height of a man. Reddish in color and have long arms and short legs. They have pointed ears which are shaped like arrow heads. Small stumps or horns which come out of the top of their heads are also seen in Artwork but not mentioned in any shastra I know of. They have thick bushy long black hair on their heads. They are not furry like Racksasas. They have many mystic powers and they are described as being able to fly in the air. As servants of Kubera they are known to grant wishes of mortals who do them favors or who they desire to help. When Dhruva fought against them they created many optical illusions by their mystic powers which are similar to the ones which are used by Racksasas.
The Yaksa race usually takes the back drop as far as epic narratives only being mentioned with any regularity in lists of beings in attentence at famous events.
There are only 3 incidents which involve Yaksas that are of major importance, 2 of them being in Mahabharata and 1 from Bhagavat Purana.
In Mahabharata there is Maniman the Yaksha general who was the top commander of Kubera. The pandavas are in exhile and Bhima climbs a mountain top in order to see the palace of Kubera. When he arrives he announces his presence by blowing on a conch shell. The Yaksha commander Maniman leads a large army of Yakshas out of the gate. Bhima slays all the Yakshas including Maniman with his club. Kubera Exits the palace angry but then remembers how Maniman had offended the sage Agastya who cursed him and his army to be slain. Kubera bows to Bhima and thanks him for ridding him of that Karma. I will mention that the Tatvavadis say Shankaracarya was none other than the Yaksha general Maniman and that Madhvacarya their preceptor was none other than Bhimsena and he defeated him once again but this time with philosophy.
The next incident which involves Yaksas is the Story of Shikundi. Their was a king of Kashi who had 3 Daughters Amba Ambika and Ambalika. As warrior custom they held a Swayambara ceremony in which the women get to choose who they want to marry and if anyone objects they fight over the woman. It’s a way for only the strongest and bravest to get married and therefore get the right to produce children. Bhisma a powerful warrior had a younger brother Vichitraveria who was destined to be king of the world and who he wanted to marry the 3 princess. Bhisma arrived and stole the 3 girls defeating all the warriors including Shalva who Amba wanted to marry. Amba told Bhisma who she realy loved and so he let her return but Shalva would have nothing to do with her. Amba wanted revenge and after a few failed attempts she did Tapasya (severe austerity) in order to please Lord Shiva. When Shiva was pleased he granted her the boon by saying in her next birth she would be the cause of the death of Bhisma. At this time she entered the fire so she could take her next birth. At the same time Drupada the king of Panchala wanted a son so he did severe austerity to lord Shiva. Lord Shiva appeared before him and said that soon he would have a daughter who would become a brave and powerful son. Drupada had a daughter named her Shikundi and raised her as a son. She kept her hair short and looked and acted just like a man. She would dress in armor and train in weapons. Because Shiva had said Shikundi would become a man Drupada agreed to marry her to the daughter of another king. The king hearing of it was so excited because of the power and affluence of Drupada he sent his daughter there immediately. The daughter reported to her father that the supposed son of Drupada was in fact a girl. The king sent an army on the way to fight Drupada. Shikandi felt ashamed and ran to a cave and wanted to commit suicide however a Yaksha entered the cave and saw the crying Shikandi. When he discovered the situation he agreed to change genders with Shikandi and so he became a woman and she became a man.
The Next Incident involves Dhruva maharaj who was a powerful king and ruler of the earth. His younger cousin was killed by some Yakshas. So Dhruva attacked them and killed several thousand before they surrendered
The Yaksha Race have never in known memory had the ambition to rule the world and have never amassed any army to fight against the gods. It has never been seen that they have joined in any Asura campaign nor do they fight for the Gods. They serve kubera and act as his guards but do not get involved in any battles between the gods and demons
Yakshas get along good with Racksasas Ghandarvas and Nagas and have neutral reactions towards humans some times being friendly and some times being hostile depending on the situation. They are respectful towards Devas

Racksasha

The word Racksasa(s)((plural)) has its root in the word Racksha which means protect. Many times the word Racksasa is translated to mean no quarter. In battle people used to beg for there life and it is said that Racksasas never give quarter to anyone even if they beg for their life. This is where it is said the name comes from.
Racksasas are evil spirits who are quite dirty nasty and selfish. They are also very large and strong and have a particular skill with black arts. I feel they have a cultural connection to Ogres or any other large man eating monster in western and Chinese Mythology, perhaps a slight cultural tie to Vampires as well. Racksasas favorite food is human flesh and blood. They used to have a kingdom on a island in the southern sea called Lanka. They used to be more civilized also, more refined one can say, but there leader Ravana got too strong and too ruthless and he offended the Gods and Vishnu in the form of Sri Ramachandra and the Racksasa kingdom was crushed. Since then they have kind of become savage living in forests and the dark places of the universe. A few who have some brains have managed to try and take control over planets by subversive means and infiltrate positions of authority. As a race they have the keenest interest on dark rituals the drinking of blood and eating of human flesh.
They are some what neutral in the battle between the Gods and the demons. This neutrality is based on there own selfishness, since they think they are the most important things in the universe they don’t meddle in the affairs of either side, unless they are extremely ambitious like Ravana. I was one time in a bad spot because of a love situation and one Racksasa chieftain managed to teleport me to his court. It was a dark cave with a raging fire in the middle. There was some sort of orgy or party going on with many of the participants playing on drums and long horns which almost reached there toes. The king was large covered in gold with pitch black skin and fire red hair. His ears were shaped like knife blades and curved almost to his eyebrows and his toothy grin went from ear to ear. He offered me quite a bit of services, spying, diseases, torture, ex. (Racksasas are expert in feeding on base emotions and trying to gain a profit from it) in exchange for me doing some favors in the future, which were to be specified later. I gave the whole mater about 3 seconds of thought and left.
The Historys are full of Racksasas and they often times play the key role in many narratives
Ravana, Kumbakarna , Indrajita, Bakasura, Hidimva, Hidimvi and Ghatotkacha are amongst some of the most famous of them.
We find in the Treta yuga the Racksasas were of a more civilized mentality and lived and owned great citys which were full of technological wonders and which rivaled swarga in majesty. But after the death of Ravana and the apparent loss of there universal kingdom they lost there civilized mentality and in later works we see them roaming the forest hunting down humans and doing various other things. They seem to have degenerated into a tribal culture. In Mahabharata war we find Racksasa generals like Ghatotkacha and Alumvusha who were rivals and brought there personal armys. This seems to be the last great mustering of the Racksasas and was more of a civil war between clans than a unified dynasty.
Racksasas are experts in black magic and tantra and can conjure very powerful illusions. On average they are at least twice the height of a human and have black skin with thick rust colored fur.
Racksasas grow to full maturity within a few days from birth. The reason for this is that in ancient days the Racksasa women would often times cast their children aside because of their lusty nature and a lack of wanting to take care of them. So Uma granted a benediction that the Racksasa race would grow to full maturity in a short amount of time.
They get along with Yakshas are Neutral towards Ghandarvas and Nagas Have almost no respect for humans considering them as food and are envious of Devas

Ghandarva

Ghandarvas are a race of celestial beings who are expert singers and musicians. They have their own planet called Ghandarvaloka which can be called their homeworld.
They are also famous for flying horses which are often times employed by the gods.
The Ghandarvas are seen in courts of any interplanetary leader such both gods and demons and are also very fond of the court of Kubera and of the Himalayan mountains.
There are also deva Ghandarvas who live primarily in the kingdom of Indra and serve him. There are 7 Ghandarva kings who have thousands of servants. Along with singing they are known to fight and do the orders of the gods.
It however has never been seen that Ghandarvas will fight for the Asuras and I think that they only sing for them on contract.
Some Ghandarvas have wings and some don’t. but all of them fly or use flying horses to get places. They love speed and the air most of all
Ghandarvas are masters of mystic powers and also have a lot of Deva weapons and have developed 3 astras of there own. They favor the bow for battle and use it while flying in the sky which can have some deadly effect.
The Ghandarvas occur a lot in Shastra and are always singing or praising some event. I can be deduced that even when they are not used to fight Ghandarvas are taken to battles by the gods so that they can make songs or ballads about the heroic deeds of the combatants
Ghandarvas are very handsome and on average slightly taller than humans being 7-9 feet tall perhaps (counting people as 6 feet average) Their eyes glow they have very long arms and typically have long flowing hair. They like to wear flower garlands and flowers in their hair which is typically braided. They love jewelry also. They are not particulary beefy as far as muscles go but are very toned and strong in that sense.
Ghandarvas are friends with Yakshas and Neutral towards Nagas and Rackshasas they have a bit of a arrogant attitude with Humans and will usually try and prove they are more powerful in some way or the other, they are the most prone to getting cursed by Risis for this reason. They have a great deal of respect for Devas.

Indraduta

This is a name which I came up for a race of being which I feel needs a mention, they don’t have any name given in shastra but are mentioned all the time. It’s the army of Indra

Indraduta’s are the souls of great warriors who fought in battle and did many religious ceremonys. When they die if Indra thinks that they are qualified he places them in his personal army and they fight in his wars. They are given many celestial abilitys and weapons.

Nagas

Nagas (Naga)( singular) are celestial serpents who live in the lower worlds, they have appear in many storys of Shastra and take many different roles.
It is general knowledge that they live in the lower realms and are associated with Assuras. It has been described that on their main planet there are many powerful cheiftans who have thousands of hoods and at the top of these hoods are celestial gems and that those gems give off radiance and the whole planet serves as a source of light for the lower realms instead of the sunlight which is restricted.
Vasuki is counted as the king of the Nagas. His older brother Sesha was the king however he renounced that kingship and devoted himself to asceticism and became a devotee of Vishnu and serves as his bed.
Mahabharata mentions how they would have all been killed in a great snake sacrifice of Janemejaya however they were saved when a Bhramin Ashtika who was a cousin of vasuki on his mothers side spoke on there behalf and saved their lives
The Nagas seem to make a lot of trouble due to jealousy and are always trying to get more than there means. In one story their mother Kadru enslaves her own sister Vinata with the aid of tha nagas and they force Garuda to take them everywhere. Being tired of the menial service Garuda asks if there is one special task which will satisfy them and he can be set free. The nagas then reveal there mind and say that the gods are reveared for there immortality and how they posses nectar and the serpents tell Garuda that if he can steal the nectar of immortality from the gods then they can be on an equal level. In another story they steal the earings from a bhramin.
It is said that the reason that snakes bite people is because of envy.
The Nagas have the unique ability to have 3 forms.
In one form they have a serpent body which according to age and status has a number of heads. For example Iravana the son of Arjuna by a Naga queen who was a sister of vasuki had 10 heads in his serpent form. Ancient naga kings are reported to have thousands of heads. Nagas can spit venom and also breath fire.
In the second form they resemble a mix between a human and a serpent. The top half looks like a human and the lower half looks like a serpent. The wives of the Kaliya serpent seem to have taken on this aspect when they prayed to Krsna.
The third form fully resembles a human being although somewhat celestial and otherworldly looking. Iravan fought for most of the battle looking this way but would switch between all 3 of them
The Nagas are very cold blooded and will probably kill anyone to get exactly what they want. They make no alliances with any race and never in history have formed any army which they used to invade or take over any other race or being. Iravan the son of Arjuna is the only Naga in any shastra I have seen with a army and he was half human. He formed a division of Naga cavalry who had horses which would change colors and which could also fly for short spurts of time. As far as battle strength the nagas seem to be superhuman. Iravan had 12 javelins sticking in him and he pulled them out and threw them at his opponents beheading them. The only way he could be killed was by a racksasa king named Alumvusha. They more often tend to use political maneuvers and subtlety to take over there opponents. Nagas are as apt to kill and subdue another naga what to speak of another race of beings and have no particular favor or dislike with any race. They in essence envy anyone stronger no matter what race they belong too.

Other races

Of the less spoken of and less known races some form of description should be given.

Kinnaras
are celestials who sing similar to Ghandarvas however they resemble Centars of the Greek origin, in as much as they have a horse portion on the lower half and a human on the upper half. They are noted for living within the Asram of Kashyapa muni and the palace of Indra in Swarga. Whenever there is some major event they always show up also. Like the swayambara of Drupadi and the Rajasurya Yajna. There numbers are not known but they seem to be a very rare breed of being and are not mentioned in any great extent

Kimpurushas
Kimpurushas like Kinnaras are not mentioned too often and when they are mentioned it is attendance at some widely attended celestial event. They resemble a sphinx. They have the lower portion of a lion and upper of a man. One important mention made in Mahabharata was that Rukmi the brother of the famous Rukmini took the king of the Kimpurushas as his Guru in arms. This is a rare event and little light is shown aside for the fact that Kimpusushas must have been somewhat accomplished at arms if a king would seek one of them as a martial guru.

Siddhas
Siddhas are actually not so much a race of being but a class of being. Siddhaloka is a planet which is full of beings who are masters of mystic powers. It is described that many yogis and powerful ascetics live in that domain. Anyone performing the proper type austeriy and vow and gaining a mastery of mystic arts can live in that place. There is no talk of what exactly the race is which lives there but I would have to assume it is full of human risis who have attained some merit after life times of severe penance

Charanas
are beings who live in the celestial worlds and which are professional riciters of prayers to the gods and other beings.

Vasus
are actually another name for the Gods. Anil is a name for Vayudeva. All the Vasus are actually such noteable personalitys as Indra Vayu and Agni just to name a few

Rudras
are all manifestations of Shiva there are 11 in total and Shiva himself is considered the topmost of them

The Encyclopedia of ancient Knowledge

This Tomb contains the full extent of my mystical otherworldly knowledge and experiences. I am not speculating and this is not armchair philosopher. I am simply placing what I know as a fact based on experience down to share as a tool of knowledge with the express purpose of fighting ignorance. For some specifics such as the names of certain personalities I had to research shastra and also I have included some references to ancient text to show the validity of my statements

the desert of dread

The Desert of Dread

I stayed on that world a short while longer. It’s not my job to fix planets I just fix the negative elements. There are plenty of other universal social workers who serve the masters to do that. It’s a dam big job running the universe.
For some reason I was directed to go into the desert and soon met a very friendly group of nomadic people who lived there. They lived in a vast mountain pass and probably would have tried to rob me blind if I hadn’t been a servant of the masters. It does have its fringe benefits I suppose. The nomads were hired by the city to watch the pass, give reports, and take what tribute they could. They were rough men but on the whole honest and forth-coming. A trait I have come to appreciate. They invited me to sit with them and shared some food with me. Which while I don’t need to eat, I accepted with gratitude. It’s my policy to accept what people give me as a matter of respect to the respect which they show me. We sat and talked about nothing for a short time. There leader was a grim looking old man with a heart of gold.
As we sat some one came up and said that a group of armed men were crossing the pass. I walked over to the watch point and saw a very large and thick aristocratic being walk along the way with about ten men dressed in bright golden yellow robes armed to the teeth. I looked closely at him. He didn’t seem flesh based at all. Yet he wasn’t a demon. Something from the vast gulf between good and evil. I was curious as to where he stood. And what in the hell he was exactly. One thing I did notice was that he was heading towards the cursed city and I hadn’t seen him there before.
While I stared at him he turned and looked at me. He stopped and started walking up the path which led to the watch post. The aristocrat was dressed in black for the most part and was almost as tall as me. His body was thick but not fat. He had short red hair pale skin and almost glowing eyes. As he approached the nomads got in a line standing at attention. I sat on the ground my sword drawn and sticking point down into the ground. My sword has a cute little name, Purundara, which in the language of the high worlds means something along the lines of smasher of the dammed. You can just call it the smasher.
He looked the nomads up and down with a snobby look on his face and then came to me, who while I was sitting down was about as tall as the nomads. He looked at my sword and then my ring very closely.
“Where did you get that ring?” he demanded “It belongs to my friend.”
I had heard all I needed to know. “Correction it belonged to your friend.”
“How did you get it?” he asked with curiosity in his voice
“You know its funny you should ask; I ripped it off his cold dead hands as a memento. He was pretty tough .I wanted to remember the battle.”
A look of complete rage came on his face.
“Kill him Kill him!! Kill him!” was all he could manage to utter
His personal band of lackeys rushed in on me swords raised and in about 30 seconds a pile of body parts was spread in the surrounding area. They were tough as far as men go but it’s like throwing wood at a fire to put it out. At least the master of the cursed city wasn’t so stupid as to assume that such pathetic resistance would actually work on me.
I swung a massive blow to his ribs which simply managed to make my sword stuck in his thick form. He roared and we started to grapple. I broke free grabbing his legs and hurled him head first into a rock wall like swinging a tree or club. I still had a hold on his legs so I lifted him over my head and then smashed him head first into the ground and continued to smash him into things for a short time until his body went limp then I took my sword out and kicked him over the side of the cliff. When weapons don’t work some times you have to use your arms. I don’t really know how strong I am, I haven’t measured it at all, it’s just one of those things I never wondered about. I haven’t found a mountain peak or tree I couldn’t manage and I usually overpower anyone I face.
I thought he was finished at this point, but he started to roar so loud the earth started to shake. The next thing I knew his body broke apart and there was a huge Cyclone heading towards me. I’ve faced man eating evil spirits with implements of torture and shooting red hot projectiles at me, which really sting by the way. They were riding on the back of giant black demon tigers and lions and that wasn’t half as scary as this thing. I think the major difficulty was the fact that he surprised me, and quite frankly the idea of how to destroy a living tornado didn’t cross my mind at that time. Later some one suggested I could just throw a mountain at him. I mean that might slow him down, but I got a deep message that I shouldn’t continue fighting him. I don’t know why but something told me to leave. He wasn’t a Demon. I really don’t know what he was or what side he fought for, some one said he might have been an Elemental or something whatever the hell that is; I don’t even know if they exist. Well I mean I was starting at a living tornado but it could have been anything. All I know is I wasn’t supposed to kill him just then.

The cursed city of gold

The Cursed City of Gold

I sit above the world looking down upon the great vastness of the Earth. It’s a nice planet and I often times will come and look at it. I appreciate the swirling clouds the vast landscapes, and most interesting of all, the people. You are such an amazing race of beings. The trauma and drama of human existence is something like entertainment for me. I sit and gaze upon you from the clouds and wonder why you act and think in such a way as you do.
Some of my friends think I am some what strange to pay attention to you. “What does it matter?” they ask. “There life is short and full of pain and fleeting joys, why bother even looking at it?” I don’t know why I do. Perhaps I should look into it, but for some reason the fact that even though men live for such a short time and only a very few can grasp the subtleness of the world around them; they still strive to live and make the most of what is there. Well at least some of them.
All of the sudden a messenger came to me to deliver his message. He was a representative of the king of the masters. His being was so powerful I could hardly see him, a large and glowing shape he seemed, but vision is a poor tool, for it does not reveal the truth of these beings. He was far more powerful than me, I am much more powerful than you could ever experience or dream, but that is me. So he came with a purpose and revealed it with a feeling. I knew at once what I was supposed to do. Communication by emotional transmission is rather quick and to the point. I knew I was needed to help in a far off place and that what I needed to do would be revealed as I went.
The bonus of working for the Masters is that they know so much about me, they never give me a task I can’t handle. I was floating above this world and the messenger made a gesture. Instantly I was above a different planet. The messenger moved a few fingers rhythmically and we were closer a couple of miles above the surface. I could see a large city surrounded by desert.
Sometimes, my existence involves learning and training. Sometimes I am in deep meditation upon events of the universe. What I was doing now however was a mission. I always like them because I love confrontation. That is what the masters send me to do. Kill people and things, and take care of what needs to be taken care of. I know you humans might not understand completely how the universe works. I can kill anything and not feel any regret. I fear nothing either. Humans seem to live in constant fear and regret. But I am not human and you are not me so I can look over the differences. I am an Immortal, a servant of the masters. I am sent to handle disturbances, wherever and whenever they happen to appear.
I descended to the ground. The world which I landed on was ugly as far as natural surroundings yet very materially wealthy. A large golden city surrounded by dessert. The city was surrounded by a 30 foot high wall made of gold which was decorated in giant statues of various otherworldly beings. They were all dressed for battle and drinking the blood of there enemies. Every quarter mile there was a guard tower which was 60 feet high. There was a high gate with two statues on each side of a guardian beast. Beyond the Walls was a very high palace which was supported by pillars of solid gold and made to look like goddesses. Not the place I would normally make a home but not bad for a place to work. The people were very passionate and over indulgent but at least by the exteriors of the city they had some good taste.
I arrived and because of my appearance they all recognized who I was and what I was there for. I was obviously a lot different looking than anyone else. They were all some type of flesh based life forms that resembled humans. I am made more of subtle energy than them; in fact I only have enough physical substance to interact in my surroundings.
Sometimes I wonder if people ever write down what I do, or remember it, I hope they never get the wrong impression. The hero’s and teachers of men are sometimes called as gods or even as God himself. This stems from the natural tendency to look up to those who are greater than us and who we feel we can get protection from. This stems from mortal childhood and the fact that men have fathers and are born needy and prone. They can’t even burp on there own. It has a real reason which is that people also have a need to protect those who are weaker than them. We want to be wanted and need to be needed. Lots of the times that’s called as love. It helps a mother and baby from a bond which will last both there lifetimes.
I seriously hope people never get the wrong impression about me, or ever make some statue of me and call me as God. I don’t think it’s possible as I just normally show up and kill something and get out as fast as I can. The real people who have to worry are the teachers. The human mind is so selfish it tends to listen to something and pick what it likes or what it feels it can use, instead of what is actually being said. It has been said that men can use scripture to prove and promote anything, and considering the bloody history of selfish holy wars I tend to agree. Its kind of sad how people always choose to pay attention to the miracles and not the words of there hero’s. Oh he did this and that and I love him for that, but when it comes to what they say about morality well then I live my life how I dam well please. I think that’s why I like just going in and getting a job done, that way I wont have to be insulted by people in the future.
Some of the people came to me. “A entity came and took control over our city, please help us. He was good at first. He said he had a new way of doing things that would change our lives but turned evil. Everything is the same but now he has all the power and wants our women and children”
I love this hero stuff, that’s why I do what I do. This is the typical kind of thing I always run into. People making a false presentation of themselves and then revealing there true nature, its just that some times there true self happens to be baby eating power hungry monsters from places I am not allowed to talk about. They always offer some kind of false hope or salvation in exchange for people’s life and soul. I wonder what the price of peace of mind is. This is the kind of thing I spend thousands of years pondering over. What they failed to realize is that some people are never content and even if they were to attain some kind of peace they would go mad from the lack of disturbance. They wanted a change and nothing sells like salvation.
I hold up my hand to calm the crowd of people who have gathered there. “Look don’t be afraid just tell me where he or it is. I’ll handle it all from there.”
That wasn’t such a hard request because soon I felt him approaching. The earth started shaking. His low growls and high pitched screams mixed together disturbing the atmosphere. The city gates opened and he had to duck to go through them. He was at least as tall as one of the guard towers. It was a very skinny sinewy being with a gaunt boney face on a bald head. His grin had long teeth which gave an expression like a mix between a dog who hadn’t eaten in two years and a drug addict who was looking for a fix. In his hand was a large thick blade, almost like a cleaver.
He wasn’t the biggest one of his kind I have ever met. Once I was a bit drunk on my own might and flew down to a very dark place and met a entity who could hold that whole city in his hand. It was divine mercy that I managed to escape in that case.
I jumped back and started flying at an angle and used a mystic power to acquire my bow. It’s the bow I always use. If I had more of an imagination I suppose I would give it some kind of heroic name. I have access to whole host of weapons which I use my acquisition power to summon, and I even some times use fire sacrifice to get very special weapons.
The great beast raced towards me the bright sun glinting on the gold and sand behind him yet his great shadow covering the earth before him. It all happened very fast. I drew a divine missile and placed it on my bow. It was a glowing force of my energy condensed into a warhead shaped like a blade. I released it and the weapon traveled so fast and with so much power the creatures head almost hit the earth as soon as let it loose. His body stumbled around for a time and finally fell over.
The massive head rolled towards me and as it did so it split in half and a handsome and princely youth emerged dressed in armor and brandishing a wicked blade. I drew my sword and descended towards him. It became an exchange of blows and curses at this point. I beheaded him many times but his head would only grow back. I personally hate this breed of demon. They always have some kind of boon or magic that keeps them from being killed in the normal fashion. Our swords clashed and danced for a good 10 minuets which I must admit is a lot longer than normal. I think people get this weird idea about war and fighting but a confrontation really doesn’t last that long. Whoever is going to win will win quite fast. We stopped shortly and he looked at me very closely.
He spoke to me in a fairly soft voice “You know, I was once one of your kind. I was even the same class as your last birth. But I took to corruption and sin and instead of the divine I am now a demon.”
He paused and looked at me for a short time trying to gauge my reaction. I just kept my typical blank face.
“Look I will make you a deal.” He continued “It is quite obvious that you can’t kill me, and I cannot defeat you. Let this continue some other time but for now I will let you stay in my city.”
I thought for some time about this proposal and agreed. It was quite good because I needed time to find what his weakness was. I think he could tell that I was too much of a champion to battle me face to face and his bet was that either he could buy me out or kill me some other way.
He took the buy me out option first. His breed is very addicted to only getting what they want and don’t fight so often. He was expecting me to be like most beings in this world. One thing I have noticed is that people can’t and won’t think beyond themselves and their own mind. He couldn’t in his wildest dreams think I was completely intent on ending his pathetic life, which was the major flaw I was going to exploit. Most people do what they do because they have to and as a result they are swayed by others. I was chosen for this because my whole human life I fought for truth. I love this. I had a goal and I was going to fulfill it.
The other thing I could tell was that he only was fighting because he only intended to show force hoping it would sway me. Actually as a matter of fact most people when they engage in a show of force they don’t intend to end some one. To me it seems childish to only make a show of force. I will only make an aggressive action when I intend to take it to the end. As a result I don’t make to many quarrels in this world, because most people obviously don’t deserve death.
We entered his treasury and he showed me his various jeweled blades and other weapons. All the gems which were celestial in origin had a self luminous quality. He showed me one of his rings it is made of a swirl of gold with a large glowing celestial gem in the center I had 3 rings at that time and I showed him my rings. One was a giant amethyst which had a deep purple glow there was also a red corral and a clear sapphire. .
I was offered a job as a minister in charge of property. Basically I kept track of who owned what and if they owed money It was my job to get it. I didn’t much like it but as long as it gave me a chance to figure something out I was going to go through with it. I walked around the city looking at the massive golden buildings. Despite the fact that they are all made of gold it is still a depressing place. I have spent some time in the capital of the masters. It is a Golden city also, but this place was to boring. Despite there wickedness demons are boring beyond imagination. There concept of what is appealing to the eye is a bit twisted, large geometric shapes and spheres, Its all quite plain and strange if you ask me. They have a lack of life and almost no appreciation for nature. Well there world has no sun at least they have it here, but is so much on the border of the demon worlds it has almost no nature.
I walked down the road and some one came to me with a paper for me to sign. There was a picture of a building and words in demonic pictographs which I cant really read so well. I signed it and continue down the road looking at the city.
The prince returns looking annoyed “You know I thought I would be nice and let you live here and this is how you repay me.”
“What the hell you are saying.” is all I could manage to utter
“You are not supposed to approve the building of something new without referring to me.”
“I cant even read your writing, some lackey came and told me to sign so I did.” I rebuked
He gets really angry and yells. “I thought you would be more responsible than that.”
I am angry and yell back “What the hell!! You are dam lucky I haven’t ended your pathetic little existence yet.”
I snapped out my arm and grab him by the neck with my hand. Using his head as a battering ram I charge through a large wall from the city street into the hallway of a palace. The golden walls start falling spreading splinters and shards all over the carpets. The walls which are still undamaged are covered with red tapestry and the ceiling is an arch. Swords are drawn once more and begin to dance. I cannot get the upper hand over his regeneration. It’s like his body cannot be harmed by blades.
The best tool in any kind of combat is versatility and I soon realize maybe my approach is the problem. I happened to once visit a very powerful master who lived atop a mountain and as a result I acquired the ability to change into animals. I change myself into a tiger. It’s a strange experience to become a beast mostly because I am so used to walking on my two legs. But there are some bonuses. The look on his face becomes one of terror and I leap at both the fear and his surprise. It’s a rather quick bout as my claws rip his flesh. His hot blood spills on the floor. There is no regeneration at this point he is not immune to these weapons. He pushes me off and tries to swing at me, but I return with a massive stroke of my claw at his right shoulder with all my weight his arm is almost completely removed and dangles by a few tendons. He falls to his knees and I finish him with a quick bite to the neck.
After the battle I return to my normal form and take his gold ring. Its not thievery it is a memento so to speak. He was one of my greatest enemies so far.

The Dark Horseman

The Dark Horseman

I awoke to the sound of thunder and the pale glow of lightning. I try and get a bearing on my surroundings, it’s a bit foggy and I sit in the middle of a forest. At first glance it looks like the earth to me, but on further inspection I seriously doubt it. Since I happen to know that place very well and where I am now cant be that place, unless it’s a higher dimension. It’s a bit hard to explain the particulars of everything, but you just don’t find trees like this on the earth.
What am I doing here? This is a good question and I suppose since you are reading this then you need an explanation. My name is, well I can’t disclose that right now, but you can know that I am a servant of the great masters of the light. I am a being of light myself, I do what it is that the masters wish and for the time being I happened to have woken up on a distant realm of existence for which purpose I can’t exactly say. This happens to me a lot so I am not so worried about it. In fact I kind of look forward to these things.
The forest sits next to a high mountain range which overlooks the valley which I stand in. I start walking, looking for some indication of what my mission is. I spend most my time in deep meditation on the energy of the universe trying to keep a tab on what is happening and opening myself up to any kind of activity which is going on and I can take a part in. I spend most my time with humans as they are entertaining. I hope deeply on the inside of my heart you people don’t take offense to that, but your lives make such drama to me. I’ve been a human before, but that was a long time ago, and I don’t remember that much of what I did, other than I used to fight a lot and died a lot too. I still fight a lot, but death, well, that isn’t such a problem anymore.
I walk guided by my inner self and travel an unmarked path as if being drawn by a magnet. I have no doubts as to where I am going or what I am doing. The wind picks up and the trees start to dance. I hear the click and clack of the branches as they sway and I get the first indication that I am near my intended goal. About a mile ahead of me through the trees the ground begins to raise and form a clearing. Upon the top of the clearing are several rows of skulls upon stakes which almost look like a wall of defenses.
The masters, they are good, but not stupid. They picked me, to do what I do, because I have a particular talent for erasing the undesirables of the world. When the opportunity arises they place me in circumstances which I can be most effective. They have so much knowledge and power that they can almost know what will happen for certain if they take any action. There is no such thing as wondering what will happen with them. So when they send me to do something it’s because they know I will act in a certain way and the results will be in a certain way. I just simply trust myself and that they know what they are doing and I trust that they never make me do something I am not ready for. At the same time, I find it important to understand everything I do is a lesson of some kind and I obviously have room for growth. Compared to some of the beings I have met or herd of; damn, I have room to grow.
I scan the rise and walk towards the wall of skulls. For a split second it crosses my mind to try and start thinking about what it is that could have made this and what would be the best way to proceed. I don’t think much about strategy some times, I just mostly work on instincts. There are additional wooden posts crudely placed with red and black pennants, a shack made out of wood and a stable.
The whole design and motif makes me start to think it’s some kind of Raksasa or one of their cousins. Raksasas are evil spirits who are quite dirty nasty and selfish. They are also very large and strong and have a particular skill with black arts. They used to have a kingdom on an island in the southern sea. They used to be more civilized also, more refined one can say, but their leader got too strong and too ruthless and he offended some powerful personalities and there kingdom was crushed. Since then they have kind of become savage living in forests and the dark places of the universe. A few who have some brains have managed to try and take control over planets by subversive means and infiltrate positions of authority. As a race they have the keenest interest on dark rituals the drinking of blood and eating of human flesh.
They are some what neutral in the battle between the masters and the demons. This neutrality is based on there own selfishness, since they think they are the most important things in the universe they don’t meddle in the affairs of either side. Unless they are extremely ambitious like the afore mentioned king.
I don’t think I was sent here to conduct any business with this thing; he must have been making trouble or done something to piss some person off. I notice my sword is already in my hand, by this point it’s almost something I do without thinking. As I begin to ascend the rise in the hill I see a figure out of the corner of my eye; a massive black rider. His mount is a pitch black equine monstrosity which dwarves any elephant. The large beast is bridled in gold with a bright spiked saddle whose points almost look small wings. Impaled on the spikes like game are at least 5 fresh human corpses who all look like warriors; must have been his trophies. The rider who was in proportion to his mount was a large and black being who could not be easily seen. He seemed to be unstable in nature; composed of shadow and smoke. Yet he also had a core which seemed about as solid as if he were made of steel. In his hand is a long black spear which he held at his side.
There is no time for words or thought, he charges his spear held above his head and I grip my sword. It’s my first option for fighting. I have a lot of weapons and there are a lot of ways to kill. I’ll put it this way; There are a lot of ways to travel, but people still walk for the pleasure of it, not the necessity but for the pleasure. I race towards him he lowers his spear and I leap into the air. I go above his spear and try and take his head off with a forward angled slash. My sword hits him and only rebounds, I end up smashing into his head and spinning around until I hit the ground hard. In the time it takes him to turn his horse around and face me I have used my power to summon my bow and have a glowing shaft drawn. I speed 5 shafts at him which all glow and hiss from the friction of the air. He makes a few gestures with his left hand and they spread in every direction except his.
Even my divine arsenal seems to have no effect on him, so I realize I need to get some more powerful weapons if I am to defeat him. I make a few gestures and teleport myself into his hut. As expected it’s full of various equipment for rituals and a large fire in the center, everything I will need to get what I want. I quickly summon a ritual fire and start making oblations to the lord of destruction. I say various mantras and using my hands form various anti-material and magical formulas; finally I throw some small gems and some other substances in the fire.
The fire blazes and the lord of destruction appears before me. His body is covered with ashes, wrapped in his long matted hair is a cobra and around his neck is a garland of skulls. This vision disappears and from out of the fire comes a large and glowing trident. This normally isn’t easy at all. To obtain the favor of such powerful gods is a rigorous process and the art of performing rituals is very refined and is almost impossible for humans to achieve but when you work for the gods they are always willing to lend a helping hand especially when you really need it. I grasp it for dear life and charge out the door.
The trident glowing in my hand with such an effulgence I can hardly see anything. The weapon practically takes over my body as I am almost dragged to the dark rider. I hurl the trident which speeds like a comet taking off the head of the horse and making a large hole in the chest of the rider causing him to stumble and fall dead. I return the trident to the fire and am given a gold tiger paw with silver claws in return.
Its like I always say the Gods are always willing to help you accomplish things when you ask them for it.
